Exercises that you should NOT do to lose weight!
When I go to the gym, sometimes I want to cry when I see people do exercises that are just not helping anything. I am going to let you in on some exercises that you should NOT be doing when you hit the gym. If you want to lose weight then steer clear of these.
1. Walking Dumbbell Lunges – Time and time again I see women walking around the gym forever. Oh for those who don’t know this is where you take a pair of dumbbells and kneel with one leg, then the other, and so-on, walking around the gym as you go.
This is supposed to work the buttocks, but I just think it’s a waste of time. You really don’t want to be in the gym for hours walking around. If you want to really work your butt, go find the smith machineĀ and do them one leg at a time. Do 2 – 3 sets of moderate weight 8 – 12 reps and you will feel those thighs a butt working.
2. The Sit Up – I know I know I might get tons of hate mail for this, but hey I think it is a waste of time if you want to shed fat. Yes they are good for building that six pack up, but no matter what if you have a layer of fat on top of it then you will not see a thing.
I can do an ab workout for 3 minutes and be sore for an entire week. Don’t bother spending your whole say on it. A good nutrition plan and good workout will help show that hot six pack.
3. Bicep Curls – Lets face it, everyone loves to build up those guns. The fact of the matter is that you could be doing a compound exercise instead and work the bicep, back, legs and more. You want to work the bigger muscles to burn the most fat and keep your metabolism burning. Don’t let the big guns fool you, although they may look nice, you need to find out if you really want to lose fat or not.
4. Most Types of Cardio – I know tons of people will hate me for this one, but what can I say. The only cardio I do is high intensity interval training, which is where I use my body weight to do exercises on a high level for 45 seconds and take it down for 10 seconds and then back up to it. This will keep your metabolism fired up.
If not I just do resistance and weight training for my cardio. If the weights are heavy enough cardio isn’t really needed. Do you know that you can get back an hour of cardio on a treadmill with one bagel.
